DHTML Programming Services
DHTML (Dynamic HTML(1)) is the marketing term applied to a mixture of standards including
HTML, Cascade Style Sheets (CSS(2)), the Document Object Model (DOM(3)) and scripting.
However, there is no W3C specification that formally defines DHTML. Most
guidelines may be applicable to applications using DHTML, and focus on issues
related to scripting and style sheets.

(1) HTML - HyperText Markup Language. The
language used to create World Wide Web pages, with hyperlinks and markup for
text formatting (different heading styles, bold, italic, numbered lists,
insertion of images, etc.).
(2) CSS - Cascading Style Sheets. A style
sheet mechanism that has been specifically developed for Web page designers and
users. Style sheets describe how documents are presented on screens, in print,
and even in spoken voice. Style sheets allow the user to change the appearance of
hundreds of Web pages by changing just one file. A style sheet is made up of
rules that tell a browser how to present a document. Numerous properties may be
defined for an element; each property is given a value.
(3) DOM - Document Object Model (DOM), a programming interface specification being
developed by the World Wide Web Consortium W3C, lets a programmer create and modify HTML pages and
XML documents as full-fledged program objects.
